A few days back, the platform had crossed the record-breaking viewership of 100 million daily users during the India vs Pakistan match. Leaving cricket aside, the entertainment consumption on Hotstar remains is as high as 60 percent. In the past year, the viewers of entertainment content have also increased by 2X. As we mentioned earlier, during the India Vs Pakistan World Cup match, Hotstar crossed 100 million active users all across the world. The match was held on June 12 when Hotstar got the record-breaking viewership. Sharing the news Hotstar’s Chief Product Officer Varun Narang, said “We are delighted to have been able to deliver an uninterrupted cricket watching experience to such a large audience at once. Having achieved a single day platform reach of 100 million demonstrates the indisputable technology prowess that Hotstar brings to the OTT industry. This remarkable achievement has helped us set a new viewership benchmark.” The company stated that out of 100 million viewers, 66% of them came from towns outside metro cities that recorded 15.6 million of concurrency. To recall, during IPL 2019 final match Hotstar crossed the milestone of over 18.9 million concurrent viewership.
