And now, the consumer electronics maker has announced that Asus Zenfone 5Z smartphone will be getting an update to Android 9.0 Pie in January 2019. The update will be rolled out to Zenfone 5Z as a firmware over-the-air (FOTA). This is being done by the company to get new functionalities and enhance the overall experience of the Asus Zenfone 5Z smartphone. Among the new features that Asus Zenfone 5Z mobile will be getting with the Android 9.0 Pie update are all-new contextual pop-up volume bar and a new Magnifier feature that will enable users to “copy and paste” in an easier way. However, as of now, we don’t know what other features will be coming to the device with the Android 9.0 update. But like other devices with Android 9.0 Pie, we expect to see app actions, slices, Digital Wellbeing and more. Another fact that lacks clarity is if Android 9.0 Pie will be coming to Asus Zenfone 5Z (review) in the latest Android security patch. Since the update is being rolled out in the form of a FOTA package, your smartphone will be updated automatically. There will be no reason for you to install the update manually. However, if you wish to check its presence on its own, you go to your Asus Zenfone 5Z’s ‘Settings’, click on ‘System’ and then press ‘System updates’. But do it in January, since the month of the update has already been confirmed by the company. To recall, Asus Zenfone 5Z features a 6.2-inch full-HD+ Super IPS+ display that has an aspect ratio of 18.7:9. The dual SIM smartphone is powered by Snapdragon 845 processor that is paired with an Adreno 630 GPU. The smartphone comes with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of onboard storage. Asus Zenfone 5Z smartphone can hold microSD cards of up to 2TB. For imaging duties, there is a dual rear camera setup that comes with a 12MP Sony IMX363 primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and OIS, coupled with an 8MP OmniVision 8856sensor with fixed focus, f/2.2 aperture, and a 120-degree wide-angle lens. There is also an 8MP fixed focus OmniVision 8856 sensor that can be used to click selfies and make video calls. Asus Zenfone 5Z houses a 3,300mAh battery that has support for Quick Charge 3.0.
